Abstract

Abstract

A significant reduction in stalk dry weight was found to occur during the last half of the grain-filling period for several corn (Zea mays L.) hybrids grown at various plant populations during two seasons in Ontario. This decrease was attributed to a remobilization towards the ear of soluble carbohydrates stored temporarily in the stalk.
