Abstract

Abstract

Two models were tested for their ability to predict phosphorus breakthrough curves. The basic difference between the two models is the method of describing the kinetics of sorption. It was found, when comparing theoretically predicted breakthrough curves with experimental breakthrough curves, that the model using the kinetic equation ∂S/∂t = a Cb Sd produced a better fit to the experimental data than a first order rate equation.
