Suction Apparatus for Mounting Clay Specimens on Ceramic Tile for X-Ray Diffraction1

  1. C. I. Rich2

A simple suction apparatus for preparing clay mineral specimens for X-ray diffraction on unglazed ceramic tile is described. A large rubber stopper is modified by forming a molded recess with silicon rubber to reduce air leakage about the tile. Specimens of proper thickness can be prepared quickly with the apparatus.
