Abstract

Abstract

Clay minerals present in fine-textured rice soils in southern Taiwan were identified by X-ray diffraction and chemical analyses. Dioctahedral mica with high potassium content is the predominant mineral in the clay fraction. These soil clays also contain considerable amounts of iron-rich chlorite, smectite, and vermiculite.
