Abstract

Abstract

The previously unidentified “D,L”-chiro-inositol phosphate (L'Annunziata and Fuller, 1971) of a Tucson forest soil was identified as the dextrorotatory D-chiro-inositol phosphate. An infrared spectrum of the inositol moiety was obtained as evidence for the chiro isomer, additional to the previously reported paper chromatographic Rf values (L'Annunziata and Fuller, 1971). A positive polarimetric optical rotation verified the dextrorotatory character of this isomer.
