The Persistence of 2,4,5-T in Greenhouse Lysimeter Studies1

The persistence of 2,4,5-T was evaluated in an agricultural soil under favorable microbial conditions in lysimeters. Degradation was most rapid in a soil previously treated with the herbicide if extended periods of time did not separate herbicide additions. The degradation of 2,4,5-T was more rapid when the herbicide was applied at 40 ppm than when it was applied at 80 ppm. The time required for biological detoxification varied from 43 to 85 days depending upon pretreatment and concentration of the applied herbicide.
