Curling Inhibition of Clays Mounted on Slides for X-Ray Diffraction Analysis1

  1. C. I. Rich2

A method is proposed which effectively inhibits curling of clay specimens on slides used for X-ray diffraction. Glass wool is broken into short lengths and mixed with the clay suspension before drying. Heat treatments and K-saturation can be performed without curling and loss of the sample.
