Abstract

A simple and rapid procedure for the determination of inorganic phosphorus in acid ammonium oxalate extracts of soils was developed by modifying the ascorbic acid-molybdenum blue colorimetric method. The oxalate interference in the determination of P was overcome by addition of excess ammonium molybdate. A molar ratio of molybdate to oxalate, in the final solution, of 2.51:1 was required in order to eliminate the oxalate interference.
