Problems encountered in simulating uniform rainfall inside the laboratory are discussed. A new rain simulator is described which eliminates nonuniformity by a nonrepeating movement of drop outlets. The model tested applies rain to a ring-shaped area of 0.21 m2 with a coefficient of variation of about 7%.
