Abstract

Abstract

Ten representative published soil photo-map sheets from Hawaii, Florida, Wisconsin, and selected intervening states were subjected to exploratory analysis for the characterization of soilscapes in terms of pedogeomorphic fabric. Data on size distribution of soil bodies were displayed on a soilscape “textural triangle” in a manner to indicate the degree to which a given soilscape was dominated by unusually large soil bodies. A relationship was indicated between natural drainage condition of soilscapes and number of soil series per km2.
