Abstract

Abstract

A sprinkler infiltrometer using air pressure to drive water through an interchangeable nozzle onto a field plot has been designed and tested for use in infiltration and redistribution studies. Application rates with uniform distribution are selected by electronically pulsing a solenoid valve between the pressurized water supply and the nozzle. A field test demonstrated the use of the infiltrometer in measuring the time to incipient ponding and the development of the water content profile.
